If you will stop whatever you're doing now and look at what's happening around you, you can see that somehow, Filipinos have moved on from the "crisis." The world won't stop turning just because there's an economic slowdown. At the rate that a lot of people are losing their jobs or businesses, there are also a lot of people earning money and growing their businesses.
It has never been more timely to quote R. Kiyosaki when he said that the economy has moved on. We have the power over our circumstances. We can adapt to it. The other analysts in our utility company said that there will be a slow-down in the recession. Meaning, the economy may still come back. True enough, we won't forever be in recession. However, when the recession ends, there will be different rules. In line with this, one of the speakers in our planning session said that we need to think out of the box. Cliche as it seems, it's about time for everyone to assess their 5-year or 10-year plan (good for you if you have one) because it is going to be a different ball game all together.
Companies now are being advised to be entrepreneurial; to maximize the earning potential of assets; to quantify the value being added by their services. As individuals, we should also think in this manner. You can't go on with the "old economy" mindset - thinking that improving on your current field will reap exponential results or that expanding your businesses globally will be subject to the same laws as before. It's about time that you mind your own business. If our employers are shifting the way they think in creating their 5-year plans, so should we.
This is an invitation for all of us to create our own game plan. It may not exactly be an exit strategy from the Corporate World as most of us in the Core Team are doing (you may design that with us later on.) But a plan that would work for you. A plan that gives you control over your present situation if you are not yet very clear on what you really want.
In closing, I'll leave everyone with what Jim Rohn said, “If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”
