Psst. Corporate Slave?

I chanced upon this picture on the internet as I was thinking of my blog for the day.
Allow me to quote one blogger when he said in his multiply site,

He may well be exaggerating on the selling-his-soul part but I can empathize on what he had to express in his entry.
I remember when I was still working for the BPI Call Center, we had to draw lots for our schedule during the holidays. My family had to adjust to the fact that I won't be able to commit to special gatherings because of my job. Funny thing though is that, this is actually the "norm." My older brother and sister are both doctors who can't take long vacations not because of their profession but because of the opportunity cost (salary-wise) of taking a long leave. My other sister is in Singapore, working hard in a restaurant to be able to send money to her 2 kids who are staying with my mom. Our bunso is working in a BPO and her husband, in a hotel call center on rotating shifts so they can take care of my 2 year-old nephew. Rarely do I meet someone who is not a slave to his employer, his business or worse, his circumstances.

You see, this post is not intended to undermine or belittle the employees or the small business owners. I was once an employee and my husband is still selling his time and skills for a multi-national company. As for my business, I am still working on my entrepreneur habits and creating more passive income streams. Instead, let this be a wake up call to all of us who still don't know where we stand. We all get lost in the jungle of survival that we haven't paused and taken a long-term look at where we are heading and what we are being busy for. It's not bad to be a Corporate Slave, just don't die being one and regretting during the last moments of your life saying to yourself, "What the f*** happened to my life?
