Ever wondered how some people manage to steer a deal or a conversation to a win-win situation?
I agree with best-selling author John C. Maxwell when he said that anyone who wants to be successful in any endeavor needs to work on his or her influence on other people.
So how do we exactly "level up" our influence?
Maxwell illustrates the process of becoming a person of influence in 4 stages:
State One: Modeling - influence by what is seen
State Two: Motivating - communicating with others on an emotional level
State Three: Mentoring - help that person grow personally and professionally to reach a higher level of living
State Four: Multiplying - aim for others to become positive "influencers." This requires a higher level of commitment, personal investment, and generosity with time and other resources than the three previous steps.
As asserted by Maxwell, the higher you go in the level of influence, the more value you add to the life of those you choose to influence. For the past year, I can say that I have been working on the fourth stage. With my intention to make a massive positive impact in the lives of the people around me, the Core Team has been my partner in making that possible. One of my reasons for leaving my job is because of this commitment. I see a great vision moving towards me and I am willing to commit my time to make this vision a reality. Each time I facilitate the Wealth Course, moderate the Cashflow Game and convene the Leadership Dojo sessions, I know that people will be paying it forward and that next time, the number of people who will be positive influencers will multiply.
If right now you feel that there's still an ingredient that's missing in the success that you are brewing, perhaps you haven't asserted your influence yet. The Core Team is for people who want to magnify what they can do as individuals. Imagine a whole Community that will invest their time, skills and knowledge for you. What other things can you do then?
Let me leave you with a quote from one of the most influential women who existed, Mother Teresa.
I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things.
