We were stranded in Atimonan, a town in Quezon province on our way to Bicol a few days ago. We all knew where we were supposed to go to but the storm caused a road block that made the driver decide to take an alternative route - after 6 hours of being stuck in the same spot.
Just the same, we reached our destination but so much time has been used up that all the planned activities for that period had been postponed. This incident reminded me of my world as an employee. Somehow, I felt like I was moving up and moving forward but really reflecting on it, it was already a dead end. There was a part of me that said, "make a u-turn" but there was also a part that said "you're still young, just wait. Things will come around."
Somehow, this is an invitation to reflect on what we really want in life and look at our road map towards our desired destination. If we want a good life for our family, do we need to wait for 20 to 30 years to make a U-turn or to choose an alternate route? Where we are now is a result of the path we chose to take. If you believe that your current situation needs improvement, it starts with being clear on who you are and who you want to be. Understand that it is not just employment that will give us the great life. There are a lot of ways to get to a certain destination and it depends on our sense of urgency to explore these routes.
